Where to start.  This year has been full of up's and down's and personally, I'm ready to start the new year fresh.  2011 started out with me being a supervisor at work and seeing endless potential for growth.  To give some of you a little background I am a EMT who is almost finished his Paramedic.  I worked for a private ambulance company and was pretty happy with it until they put a new General Manager in and everything went downhill with the work situation from there.  The hours became longer, the people became more irate with me, and more work for the same pay made for an awful feeling when work time came around.  The one benefit out of that job was that I thought I had met the girl of my dreams there (emphasis on the thought later explained).

The girl was great she treated me the way I wanted to be treated and always wanted to hang out.  The family loved her and her family loved me and from the first kiss I couldn't catch my breath, had butterflies in my stomach, had electricity run through my entire body, and instantly knew that she was different.  We started hanging out in June 2011 and finally made it official August 25, 2011. Everything was going great except the job.  I left work October 11, 2011 after I had had enough of the General Manager and how he treated me and the other employees.  I value my EMT card more than some of the others and would no longer risk my job for him.  This gave me a lot more free time but I still needed some income. I took two part time positions at paid volunteer fire companies close to home to pay the bills while I attend school.

I am finished with my classroom portion of my Paramedic and now only have my field time left, while demanding is much easier on my schedule than the previous one of gf, work, school, clinicals, and ride alongs.  December 1, 2011 the girlfriend and I sat down for what would be the last face-to-face conversation we would have together and I still believe that I will never know the real reason as to why we are no longer together, but the reason I was given was, "You're too motivated and ambitious to dedicate the time I need".  Now this needs some explaining... while I had a hectic schedule I spent the better part of 5 days a week with her. She works 3 nights a week the other days and nights I was with her.  I won't go into too much detail but I will say I did everything I possibly could for her but it wasn't enough.

Now I dedicate my time to my schooling and volunteering at my firehouse Middle River Volunteer Ambulance and Rescue Company.  Right now I am an Advanced Open Water Diver and also an Attendant/Driver on the medic units.  I enjoy what I do very much and wouldn't change it for the world.  I went to college and graduated with a Bachelors in Business Administration and also a Bachelors in Accounting but would much rather be out on the Rescue Squad, Dive unit, or Medic unit helping the people of the Middle River area.

While 2011 brought some good times into my life, I'm ready for some change and for things to stick. Hopefully 2012 brings a lot more good then bad! Here's to looking forward and I wish you all the best in 2012!
